Visualizing Complex and Critical Data

Nexenta, a global leader in software-defined storage, reached out to Busse Design when they wanted to create a solution that would provide network administrators a high-level view of the status of their networks.

Our task was to design a system that would provide just enough data to give administrators actionable information, but not so much data that would obfuscate any true alerts. Working with the Nexenta team, we highlighted overall network health on the dashboard, elevated the most critical alerts, and we also provided a view where users can see their network status by geographical location.

We based our design on 3 key principles: Maintain white space to not overwhelm with information, provide additional information in layers on click or hover, and allow the administrators to see more detailed information by drilling down from any data point.
